Most of the major news websites and blog sites provide RSS feed now. RSS is also seen in many enterprise applications today. RSS reader on a mobile phone would be a good tool for many kind of users.
Mobiedge Newspaper not only downloads RSS feeds via the wireless data service e.g. GPRS. By our research a typical user’s daily feed would be in size of hundreds of kilobytes or more. Therefore downloading all feeds using wireless data services means a pretty high cost. This is the reason why we provide a PC platform helper for end users with an “offline” mode. End users can manage the subscriptions on a PC, get all the latest feeds and send them to the mobile phone for later reading. To get important updates, end users can still use the “online” mode, i.e. wireless data connection, so that they will not miss any latest news.
Mobiedge Newspaper also supports HTML links in the RSS feeds. The end user can designate any external Web browser as the HTML page reader.
